Suggestions would be welcome, plus an answer to this question: Is it normal for the computer to 'pick up' external sounds such as a TV or my coughs, and play them as a (sometimes) annoying background? This can be heard without speakers and with them, and ear buds. I am not sure it will be worthwhile for me for such a limited use - the app does do much more than what I want. The very short trial period is due to run out in a few days, when I expect to be asked for a payment. It is a bit unpleasant but that is not necessarily a bad thing for warning / reminder notifications. I presently have a trial version of DFX Speakers which does work, not so much by increasing all round volume but by adding an 'electronic echo' (my description) to system sounds. Volumey is somewhat similar but again i have not been able to boost beyond 100%. Ear Trumpet used to work OK but only adjusted sound for specific devices up to the already available 100%, and now the updated version will not open on my computer at all. I have tried all the settings on the PC so have started to examine some apps. It has not much mattered up to now, as I often have external speakers connected for music, videos etc.(and I can Cast to my smart TV which provides all the volume and quality I want.) But I find the volume of system sounds is not loud enough, I can easily miss Reminder notifications for example and there are some other problems despite sound being set at 100% and easily adjusted via a Gadget. DFX Audio Enhancer allows you to enjoy the audio sound at more than 100 volume in PC. It is accepted that the volume from my TabletPC is low. Here is another one of the best free sound boosters for Windows 10 with ample choices to match your music-listening habits.
